Customer Challenge:
In this case pin piles was upended in an upending clamp at the rear of a feeder barge and lifted into vertical upending position using the installation crane located at the starboard rear of the installation vessel Bigfoot 1. The relative movement between the two vessels is challenging, and could potentially in damage to the equipment or the piles.
Cranemaster Solution:
Analysis in Orcaflex was performed to evaluate the relative movements between the two vessels, the starboard rear crane tip on the GSP Bigfoot 1 and the upending clamp at the feeder barge. Results from the analysis was also used to optimize the spring stiffness for the CM3-250T-2500-A Cranemaster used in this operation.
The Results:
The pile installation was successful without incidents.
