Pile hammering for E.ON at the Rampion project

During the installation of 116 monopiles at the Rampion Offshore Wind Farm, unexpected soil conditions posed a risk of pile run— with a potential to damaging shock loads. Cranemaster provided two shock absorbers (SWL 1000t and 700t) to protect cranes and rigging during pile driving. The solution enabled safe handling and successful installation by jack-up vessels MPI Discovery and Pacific Orca, with the project completed on schedule.

Customer Challenge:

Pile run protection during installation of 116 monopiles at the Rampion Offshore Wind Farm Project off the south coast of England.

Cranemaster Solution:

Two Cranemaster shock absorbers with SWL of 1000 tons and 700 tons. Protecting the crane and rigging by reducing potential shock loads caused by sudden drop fall during pile driving due to unexpected soil conditions.

The Results:

The two jack-up vessels MPI Discovery and Pacific Orca installed the foundations using a 1000 metric tons crane to lift each foundation upright before lowering and piling it into the seabed using an hydraulic hammer. The installation was completed on schedule.
